Content
Our exhibition introduces works by the artists who swept the world's art scene in the 1980s, inspiring the young creators of today with their "New Paintings". At the beginning of the 1980s,
the art movement which was also called "Neo-Expressionism" spread simultaneously to many places worldwide. This movement opposed minimalism and Conceptual Art which had dominated the 70s, and focused on representational paintings, making use of allegorical meanings while depicting imagery of violence, death, sex, dreams, history and myths on large screens.
Many of the works are very large, and the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see a gathering of neo-expressionist works displayed altogether in one group. Look forward to the exciting great works of internationally acclaimed and popular artists including Basquiat, Kiefer, Richter, Baselitz and Clemente.
